Army Chief visits Siachen Glacier to review operational preparedness

Srinagar, July 27 : Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande on Thursday visited the frozen frontiers of Siachen Glacier and reviewed the operational preparedness, Army said.

The Army Chief also laid a wreath at the Siachen War Memorial to honor the army bravehearts who laid down their lives on the line of duty at the world’s highest battlefield.

During the interaction with the soldiers at the Siachen Glacier, he lauded them for their tenacity and perseverance under the most challenging conditions and also exhorted them to continue working with the same zeal and motivation.

Siachen glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram Range in the Himalayas and is one of the five largest glaciers in Karakoram, situated at an average altitude of 18,000 ft above sea level.
