Srinagar: Police arrest 3 for stabbing 2 youths

Srinagar, July 24 :Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested three people for allegedly stabbing two youths in Srinagar’s exhibition ground, source said on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Hammad Khan, Baazil Khan and Majid Khan, all residents of the Sariabala area of Srinagar, who have been arrested for stabbing two youths in Exhibition Ground, police said in a Sunday night tweet.

Three knives used in the offence were also recovered, police said, adding that a case under relevant sections of the law stands registered in Police Station Shergari.

“Accused Hammad Khan S/o Late Javid Ahmed, Baazil Khan S/o Lt. Javid Ahmed and Majid Khan S/o Late Mohd Afzal Khan all from Sariabala, were arrested for stabbing two youths in Exhibition Ground. Three knives used in the crime were recovered. FIR No 40/2023 u/s 341,307 IPC in Shergari PS”, Srinagar police said in a tweet.

The incidents of stabbing have witnessed an increase in Srinagar and other areas over the past few years.

More than a dozen cases of stabbing were reported from various areas of Srinagar.

In wake of recent stabbing incidents in many areas of Srinagar, the district administration on July 21 imposed a ban on the sale, purchase, and carrying of “Sharp-edged weapons” in public places.
