MeT predicts more rain in J&K, heavy spell in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi

Srinagar, July 21 :: Weather department here on Friday forecast generally cloudy with possibility of light to moderate rain at many places of Poonch and Rajouri besides at scattered places elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir during next 24 hours.

“Heavy rain is likely at some places of Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi districts,” a meteorological department official here told GNS.

 

He said intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershower was expected at many places of Jammu and at scattered places of Kashmir on July 22.

 

The weather department said that there is risk of “flash flood and mudslides” at vulnerable places of Poonch and Rajouri today.

“People are advised to remain cautious and stay away from Streams, Rivers and other vulnerable spots,” the official added.

 

Regarding rainfall in the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, he said, Srinagar received 0.1mm, Qazigund traces, Pahalgam 5.3mm, Kupwara 2.7mm, Gulmarg 2mm, Jammu 0.2mm, Bhaderwah 33.4mm and Batote 1.6mm.

 

Regarding the minimum temperature today, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 21.7°C, Qazigund  19.8°C, Pahalgam 16.0°C, Kupwara 16.2°C, Kokernag 19.3°C, Gulmarg 14.3°C, Jammu 27.0°C, Banihal 20.6°C, Batote 20.4°C, Katra 23.2°C and Bhaderwah 18.6°C.
