Dr. Rashmi Singh reviews performance, functioning of Mining Deptt

Srinagar, July 20: Dr. Rashmi Singh, after taking over as Administrative Secretary, Mining Department, today chaired a meeting to review the functioning and performance of department at Civil Secretariat here.

During the meeting, the Secretary took comprehensive review of all the district besides she also assessed the progress achieved by the department in the identification of new major and minor mineral blocks across the Union Territory for e-auctioning.

The Secretary, during the course of meeting, also undertook an extensive assessment of the department’s performance and functioning to ensure transparency, efficiency, and optimal resource management. The review meeting also focused on evaluating the department’s achievements, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategic measures for the betterment of the mining sector.

The meeting was attended by Director Geology and Mining, Om Prakash Bhagat; Managing Director, J&K Minerals, Vikram Gupta; Joint Director, Geology and Mining, Jammu/ Kashmir, District Mineral Officers (DMOs) of all districts besides other concerned officers both in person and through video conferencing.

Addressing the officers, Dr. Rashmi Singh emphasized upon the officers to consummate a strong monitoring mechanism in coordination with other departments including law enforcement agencies to optimise district wise resources potential and tackle the problems of illegal mining.

The Secretary further asked all the DMOs to expedite the process of identifying the new major and minor mineral blocks in their respective districts for e-auctioning. She also impressed upon them to establish mineral check posts at prime locations.

While reviewing other aspects of the department, Dr. Rashmi Singh directed all DMOs that the  progress on  working  on regular basis. She also asked the officers in meeting to sort out the issues related to e-portal so that the Mining lessees, mineral dealer license holders as well as general public are facilitated at large.
