Police arrests drug peddler in Kulgam; Contraband substance recovered

 

Kulgam, July 18: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established on NHW-44 near Nippora crossing, intercepted the vehicle (Santro) bearing registration No. JK01M-8715 driven by Nasir Ahmad mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Trapoo Achabal, Anantnag. During checking of the vehicle, officers were able to recover 10 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance and cash of Rs 50,000 (pertains to the proceeds of narcotics). He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 149/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
