J&K: Hot, humid weather continues amid forecast of light rain

Srinagar, July 14:  Hot and humid weather conditions continue amid a rise in temperature even as the Meteorological Office predicts intermittent light to moderate rain at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, the MeT office said on Friday.

The weather department on Friday predicted mainly dry weather with the possibility of intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir until July 25.

“There is no forecast of any major rainfall until July 25”, the MeT office added.

Srinagar recorded a low of 20.7°C against 17.6°C on the previous night, and it was 2.6°C below normal for the summer capital.

Qazigund, on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, recorded a low of 17.2°C against 17.0°C on the previous night, and it was 0.7°C above normal for the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley.

The tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of 12.7°C against 10.3°C on the previous night, and it was above normal by 0.7°C for the famous resort.

The frontier north Kashmir district of Kupwara settled at 16.6°C against 15.5°C on the previous night, which was normal for the border town.

Kokernag recorded a low of 17.5°C against 16.5°C on the previous night, and it was 1.6°C above normal for the famous picnic spot in south Kashmir.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 14.0°C against 11.6°C on the previous night, and it was 2.2°C above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the MeT office said.
