Palhallan shopkeeper held for selling petrol illegally on exorbitant rates

187 litres of petrol, diesel recovered, case registered: Police

Baramulla, July 13 : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested a shopkeeper involved in selling fuel at exorbitant rates at Palhallan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla.

The shopkeeper was arrested at a time when the Srinagar-Jammu highway blockade for five consecutive days led to the fuel crises in the Valley.

A Police official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a shopkeeper namely Mehraj-Ud-Din Mir son of Ghulam Mohi u Din Mir of Tantraypora Palhallan was arrested for selling petrol and diesel on higher rates, while 187 litters of petrol and diesel have been also recovered from the shop.

Meanwhile, a case under sections of Essential Commodities & Petroleum Act has been registered in Police Station Pattan and investigations have been set into motion.
