DC B’la discusses strategies to promote Eco-Tourism in district

Focus on Adventure Tourism, other popular ventures: Dr Sehrish directs Officers

Baramulla, July 6: In a bid to promote eco-tourism in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today convened a meeting of concerned officers at her office, here to discuss various strategies to promote tourism activities in the newly identified tourist destinations across the district.

A threadbare discussion was held on the subject wherein various strategies were discussed for identification of hidden tourist destinations in the district including MundDaji Rafiabad, Ladu Ladoora, Rajpura Rampura, Parihaspora, Kazinag National Park and Yambarzalbari for bringing them on the tourism map.

Observing that the tourism potential of the district is vast and unique, Dr Sehrish asserted that with breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, magnificent cuisine and warm hospitality, these tourist destinations will create a niche for themselves on the tourism map.

She said that the District Administration is committed to ensure all the necessary infrastructure and resources, besides opening up new economic avenues for fulfilling the aspirations of the people through the tourism industry.

On the occasion, Dr Sehrish asked the officers of the tourism department for developing various tourist circuits across the district, laying special focus on adventure tourism, trekking activities, pilgrimage sites, water sports and other popular ventures. She laid thrust on ensuring easy access to the tourists at all tourist places, with proper mobile connectivity, road and electricity, drinking water facilities besides other utilities for hassle free and memorable experience of the visiting tourists.

While reviewing the measures being taken to promote home-stays in the district, the DC exhorted upon the Tourism Department to register the number of home stays meant for the accommodation of the tourists in vicinity with all the sophisticated facilities.

The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure public conveniences, parking facilities, sanitation facilities, cleanliness, signage, toilet units, besides activities for the tourists at all tourist places.

She asked the departments to promote the tourist destinations, cultural heritage and other monuments through social media platforms.

Meanwhile, the chair was informed that 14 KMs of road to MundDaji Rafiabad has been macadamized and the work on other 05 kilometers shall be completed during the current season.
