Will enter Indian market as soon as humanly possible: Musk after meeting PM Modi

New Delhi/New York, June 21: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla Elon Musk on Wednesday said that electric car-making company will enter the Indian market ‘as soon as humanly possible’ and will ‘make significant investment’.

The US billionaire made the announcement after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York.

While talking to the media after the meeting with the Indian PM, Musk said, “I am confident that Tesla will be in India and will do so as soon as humanly possible … India has more promise than any large country in the world.”

He said, “He [Modi] really cares about India because he’s pushing us to make significant investments in India, which is something we intend to do, and we are just trying to figure out the right timing.”

Musk said that he was a ‘fan’ of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He thanked Modi for his plans and said that both the parties could announce something in the not-too-distant future.

The Tesla CEO said that he was looking forward to bringing Starlink to India and he would visit the country next year.

It may be noted that PM Modi is on three days visit to the United States from June 20 to 23, including stops in New York City and Washington.

During his visit the PM is scheduled to meet President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
