BJP J&K president Ravindra Raina terms late Mufti Sayeed a tall leader

Srinagar, June 19 :BJP J&K Chief Ravinder Raina on Monday termed late former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as a tall leader who used to often talk about peace and tranquility.


Raina said this after visiting Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s grave in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The gesture by Raina is seen by many as an effort by BJP to reach out to Kashmiris.

The former chief minister Mufti Sayeed, who was heading PDP-BJP coalition- died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi in January 2016.

Raina, accompanied by the party leaders, visited Mufti’s grave at Bijbehara and offered prayers for the former chief minister.

The BJP chief termed Mufti Sayeed a tall leader who always talked about peace.
“In 2014 when we had the coalition government, he was the chief minister. I was also an MLA and

I had the opportunity for a long time to work with him. Mufti Muhammad Sayeed sahib was a tall leader. He was also the Home Minister of the country. I was on a tour to the south and I was moving in Bijbehara and I paid my tribute to him,” he said.

“Mufti sahib often used to talk about peace and tranquility in the assembly. I remember he always said that every politician in politics should be a servant of the people,” BJP chief said.

Ravinder Raina further said that Mufti Sayeed was the Home Minister of India, and this was in itself a great achievement.
