Army Corps commander reviews security for Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar, June 16 : Days after taking over the command of Army’s Srinagar based strategic Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Friday reviewed the security and operational preparedness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

The annual pilgrimage of Amarnath Yatra, will begin on July 1 and end on August 31 this year. The
62 days Yatra would commence simultaneously from both Pahalgam track in the Anantnag district and Baltal in the Ganderbal.

The Army said General Officer Commanding (GoC) Chinar Corps Lt Gen reviewed the security and operational preparedness along both the Northern and Southern routes for the Yatra.

Corps commander was accompanied by Army’s two counter insurgency divisions- Kilo and Victor Force- heads, they said

“ GOsC of CIF Kilo & Victor who briefed on the multi-tiered security set up, medical setup, emergency response mechanism & other infrastructure development for successful conduct of the Yatra,” Army Chinar Corps said in a tweet.
