Srinagar, June 15 : Highlighting Prime Minister  Narender Modi’s nine years in office, senior BJP leader and party’s J&K spokesman said that Modi’s tenure entails restoration of peace in J&K and making it a safe destination for travellers and investors from across the world.
Thakur said there are countless achievements of Modiji vis-à-vis J&K but highlighting some major feats are the need of the hour. Real integration of J&K with the Union of India by scrapping Article 370 on August 5, 2019 is the biggest achievement of the Modi led government. The BJP leader said that the three day Working Group meeting of G20 Conclave in Srinagar that ended peacefully  also goes to the credit of PM Modis the event reflected the changing times in Kashmir and peoples deep yearning for peace and stability’. He said that in the coffin of terrorism, the last nail was pushed and the local militant recruitment was brought to zero. Stone pelting, street protests, closure of schools, colleges besides the shutdown of markets is a history now. For the first time, democracy is flourishing across J&K in every nook and corner. Militancy is on the verge of death bed and the last nail has been pushed in its coffin. “People are breathing freely just because of PM Modi’s efforts,” he said.
Thakur said that more than doubling of the investment in J&K to Rs 75,000 crore by this year end, five times the investment happened in the past 74 years holds promise about the huge turnaround in the economic and developmental scenario in the Union Territory. “The influx of tourists has crossed an all time high mark of 1.80 crore last year, this year the numbers are expected to go over two crore, which reflects the success of various initiatives taken during the past nearly four years, post abrogation of Article 370,” he added.
Thakur said that the target to double the hydel generation in the next three years and three times in seven years will make a huge difference as far as meeting the domestic requirements and in turn giving fillip to the economic landscape of the Union Territory. He hoped that the power generation on Tawi basin will prove a game changer not only in terms of achieving self-reliance but also generating jobs for the local skilled, unskilled and educated work-force.
Thakur asserted that the BJP believes in inclusive Jammu and Kashmir, with every segment of society, irrespective of region, religion, race or caste having equal opportunities to prosper and progress and equal rights in the governance. The people’s power will triumph under the cherished agenda of Modi’s Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.
He said that the Prime Minister’s vision of Atma Nirbhar (self-reliant) Bharat is Sashaktikaran (empowerment) of all, irrespective of religion, region or caste. Highlighting some other achievements in J&K that have taken place under the leadership of PM Modi, Thakur said: “In J&K, under the Pradhan Mantri Ujwala scheme, 1245339 connections were distributed. Under the Pradhan Mantri Beema scheme 7522324 golden cards were distributed among the people that have Rs 5 Crore health Cover,” he said adding that two AIIMS were set up while Jammu and Sgr were made smart cities for the first time.
Thakur said that two DRDO hospitals were set up while a free ration was distributed to 72.41 lakh during Covid pandemic. “Rs 6000 per year were given to 1168057 farmers of J&K  under Pradhan Mandri Kissam Saman Nidhi,” he said, adding that under the Mission Youth, 4500 youth clubs were set up. Thakur said that  the power generation was doubled in three years as Rs 51915 Cr were spent  for Pakal Dul, Rattley, and Keeru power projects to generate 3000 MW power,” he said.
