Weekly Block Diwas held at remote Rampora Rajpora Area of Sopore, Baramulla

DC presides over the function; listens to People’s Grievances/ Demands

Baramulla, June 7: Continuing the process of weekly Public Outreach Programme with an aim to listen to the issues and grievances of people at their door steps, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today visited Dangerpora Sopore where she chaired a day long Block Diwas Camp at remote Rampora Rajpora area.

 The programme witnessed large participation of people from Zaingeer, Harwan Tujjar, besides other adjoining areas of Dangerpora Sopore.

Among others, the Public Grievance Redressal Camp was attended by Joint Director Planning M Yousuf Rather and all district and sectoral officers of the district.

During the Grievance Redressal Camp, various Public delegations and scores of individuals projected various developmental issues before the DC and sought timely resolution of their grievances and demands.

The demands put forth included providing of Ambulance for the area, augmentation of health institutions besides providing of sufficient staff for Hospital, macadamization, widening and renovation of inner links, establishment of road from Harwan to Yambarzalwari, Rajpora to Pahiwae and renovation of Ziyarat Road.

Development of tourism, providing of drinking water facility, sufficient staff for Higher Secondary School were also among the major demands of people.

After giving a patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC assured that the District Administration will provide active support for development of the area and also assured them that all their issues and demands shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their timely redressal.

On the occasion, the DC resolved various grievances of immediate nature and assured that the area will be provided with an Ambulance very soon and also gave on spot directions for redressal of other issues.

She also directed the project manager of National Rural Livelihood Mission to engage women in various self employment generation programmes including SHGs and others.

Dr Sehrish Asgar asserted that District Administration is hopeful that Rampora Rajpora having significance with Wular Lake, Shrine of Baba Shakuru Din Wali (RA) and other destinations can emerge as a famous tourist destination and initiatives will be taken to bring it on the tourism map.

Moreover, the DC further said that the administration is keen to streamline public service delivery and added that various developmental works are being identified and subsequently approved for their execution.

Meanwhile, similar weekly Block Divas camps were also organized at all sub Division levels of Baramulla district where the concerned Sub Divisional heads presided the functions and heard the issues and grievances of people.
