DC B’la reviews progress of Works under Jal Jeevan Mission

Put in every effort to achieve timely & desired results: Dr Sehrish Directs Officers

Baramulla, May 19: In order to take an appraisal of the progress of effective implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish presided over a meeting of concerned officers at DC Office Complex here.

At the outset, the DC in her opening remarks asserted that the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission scheme is being monitored by District Administration Baramulla on daily basis and every effort is being made to ensure that 100% saturation is achieved in all the works undertaken under JJM Scheme.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed in detail the physical and financial progress of the works being executed under the JJM.

It was informed that there are a total of 1.45 lacs households in the district to be covered under JJM, for which 209 works are already in execution mode, thereby achieving 70 percent progress on works.

It was also given out that 101748 households have been provided with portable water connection in the district till date against the set target of 145675.

Asserting that JJM is a major flagship programme to cover all households, Dr Sehrish directed all the officers to work in coordination and ensure smooth execution of JJM works in their areas.

She directed officers of all concerned departments that all households are connected through tap water, besides all pending schools, anganwadi centres, health centres and panchayat ghars be also provided with tap water connections under JJM scheme across the district.

Meanwhile, various issues and bottlenecks were comprehensively discussed wherein DC reviewed status of road cut permission and exhorted upon the officers to carry on the works with minimum inconvenience to the public.

She also directed the executing agencies to redouble their efforts so that cent percent saturation and desired target is achieved within the stipulated time frame.

Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Yousuf Rather, Superintending Engineers of Jal Shakti and R&B Departments, Chief Education Officer Baramulla, Chief Medical officer, DFOs, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti and R&B Department were present in the meeting.
