15 sheep killed in suspected leopard attack in South Kashmir

Anantnag, May 19 :  In a suspected leopard attack over a dozen sheep have been killed and a half-dozen injured in a far-off village of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.
The incident occurred in Wantrag Ranbirpora hamlet of the district.

Officials said that 15 sheep belonging to four persons died in the attack while 6 are injured.

They said joint teams have been formed and traps placed to capture the big cat.

One of the locals from the hamlet told the news agency Kashmir News Trust over the phone that one lamb is also believed to have been taken away by the animal.

He said that sheep were taken care of by a shepherd and those belonged to Sakib Ahmed, Abdul Rashid Khan, Muhammad Ayoub Khan, and Showkat Ahmed Khan.

“15 sheep were found dead and 6 injured,” the local added.
