“SKIMS Celebrates International Nurses Day”

Srinagar, May 12: The Department of Nursing Administration, Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences celebrated “International Nurses Day” to commemorate birth anniversary of “Florence Nightingale” pioneer of modern nursing. The progamme held today focused on this year’s theme “Nurses- Our Nurses our Future”.

Director SKIMS & EOSG, Prof. Parvaiz A Koul, while speaking on the occasion congratulated Nursing Administration  and said the role of  nurse is  critical in any medical setup. He exhorted upon Senior Nurses at SKIMS to help and train junior nurses  for better and efficient patient care. He asked Nurses to be more contributory and guide patients to use digital platforms available at hospitals to facilitate over all patient  care system.

Dean Medical Faculty, SKIMS, Prof. Bashir A Laway hailed role of nurses in patient care. He  applauded them for their contribution and said nurses now have to play dual role and participate in teaching besides their routine work.

Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, Dr. Farooq A. Jan in his address lauded  role of “Nurses in CoVID -19 which was recently declared by WHO as end of medical emergency. He further said that future demands nurses to be more diversified and should become tech savvy to make efficient use to digital systems now available in hospital settings for more prompt patient care.

Additional Director SKIMS Gulzar Shabnum acknowledged significant role of nurses in patient management and stressed that  their work should be more  embedded in sincerity. He said administration at SKIMS is making all concerted efforts to address manpower deficiency and expressed hope that all issues related to human resource will be addressed.

Organizing Secretary of the event Mehjooba Masoodi & Incharge Nursing Administration Daljit Kour in  their addresses welcomed the guests and highlighted role of Nightingale in modern nursing.

The function was attended by HOD’s/ Heads of Sections,  Faculty SKIMS, Nursing Staff and Nursing Faculty, Administrative Heads and Students.
