
Srinagar, Apr 20 :As the weather shows gradual improvement the shoppers thronged Srinagar markets to make purchases ahead of Eit-ul-Fitr being celebrated on Friday or Saturday subject to the appearance of the crescent.
Major parts of Kashmir valley including Srinagar witnessing incessant rains for the past few days disrupting the normal activities. However, as the weather shows gradual improvement people started to move towards markets to make purchases for the Eid festival.
Most of the markets in Srinagar and its adjoining areas witnessed less business activities during the past few days due to inclement weather conditions.
Shoppers in hordes thronging shopping centers to shop for their favourite products including bakery products, mutton, chicken, garments and other items for the festival.
Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated in Kashmir valley either on Friday or Saturday subject to appearance of the crescent.
People in good numbers were seen visiting the Residency road, Regal Chowk, Lal Chowk, Amirakadal, Gonikhan market, Jamia Masjid market and Hari Singh High Street to make purchases of their choicest products.
Heavy rush of people were also seen at the mutton shops, Chicken shops, garment sellers and bakery shops and sweet seller shops ahead of the festival.
Reports of rush of people in the markets to make purchases for the festival were received from all major Kashmir district headquarters despite of wet weather conditions
Throughout the day people from all age groups could be seen carrying bags with items ranging from kids garments to fashionable men’s and women’s wear and bakery items.
People were seen in long queues at Bakery and sweet shops in Srinagar.
The shopkeepers at fashionable Residency road and historic Lal Chowk had displayed colorful dressing items that could lure the customers.
Kids were seen in queues waiting to decorate their hands with “Hina” at Gonikan market in Srinagar.
