PM Modi flags off Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train

New Delhi, Apr 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday flagged off Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train, via video conference.

It was the sixth Vande Bharat Express to be launched in the last two months.

Ajmer-Delhi Cantt. Vande Bharat Express will be the world’s first semi high speed passenger train on high rise overhead electric (OHE) territory.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Vande Bharat will immensely benefit the tourism industry of Rajsthan.

“Vande Bharat Express enriches the spirit of India First , Always First” he said.

“I am happy that Vandana Bharat train has today become synonymous with development, modernity, self reliance and stability” he said.

PM Modi said “Today’s journey of Vande Bharat will lead us to the journey of development of India’s tomorrow”.

The Vande Bharat Express in Rajasthan will ply between Ajmer and Delhi Cantt, with stops at Jaipur, Alwar and Gurgaon.

The regular service of this Vande Bharat Express will start from April 13 onwards.

The train will cover the distance from Delhi Cantonment to Ajmer in 5 hours and 15 Minutes, an hour less than the time taken by the fastest train Shatabdi Express which takes 6 hours 15 minutes.

As per the Ministry, the train will run on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

The price of the Chair car is Rs 1250, while, that of the Executive Chair car costs Rs 2270.

“The train will improve connectivity of major tourist destinations in Rajasthan including Pushkar, Ajmer Sharif Dargah and enhanced connectivity which will also provide a boost to socio-economic development in the region” said the Rail Ministry.

On April 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off Chennai Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express in Chennai.
