Youth in J&K want peace not war: Bukhari

Jammu, Apr 11 :  Stating that situation is Jammu and Kashmir is normal and very peaceful, Apni Party president, Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday said that youth of Jammu and Kashmir want peace not the war.
“Jammu and Kashmir is normal and youth of this belt wants to live in peace and do not want war,” Bukhari here told reporters at a press conference.
He was flanked by senior members Choudhary Zulfikar, Manjit Singh and Vijay Bakaya.
Bukhari said, “Jammu and Kashmir is as normal as any place in this country and we must be happy that in the last eight months, no local youth has joined the militancy.”
“I congratulate our security forces and the administration for restoring peace and ushering new era of development in Jammu and Kashmir,” said the former Minister.
The Apni Party president also lauded the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for announcing several road connectivity projects and tunnels for Jammu and Kashmir.
Gadkari along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday inspected the ongoing work at Zojila Tunnel that will be making Srinagar-Leh highway an all weather connectivity once completed.
Bukhari said, “It is appreciable that Nitin Gadkari has fixed a deadline to complete the Zojila tunnel as this historic connectivity is also be very important and strategic with defence point of view.”
Bukhari while counting the decisions taken by the Union Minister with regard to road connectivity, appealed for more better road infrastructure across the Union Territory and stated that Zojila tunnel will further be strengthening bonds and connecting people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, which were bifurcated into two Union Territories in 2019.
He also appealed to the Union Minister to consider suspending of Toll Plazas on Jammu-Kathua national highway till the road conditions get better.
Bukhari while suggesting construction of bridges as connectivity instead of digging and cutting mountains, appealed to the administration to engage and employ more local youth at the sites where the projects are underway.
