Presently NCC’s unit of NIT Srinagar has a vacancy for 50 girls and initially, 20 cadets have joined the caravan. In his key address, Prof. Sehgal said that NCC provides exposure to cadets in a wide range of activities, with a distinct emphasis on social services, discipline, and adventure training.

“The awareness campaigns of NCC on many issues and topics like environmental protection are commendable. Our aim is to promote youth leadership qualities in different fields,” he said.

The Director NIT Srinagar said that the NCC girl’s unit was aimed to develop character, commandership, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, and the ideals of selfless service amongst the students.

“NCC also plays a vital role in the development of the country by providing a large pool of disciplined and motivated young people who can serve as a reserve force during times of national emergencies,” he said.

Prof. Sehgal said that NCC instills leadership qualities among young students by providing them with opportunities to lead and participate in various activities. “The training and discipline imparted by NCC help them become responsible citizens and future leaders of the country,” he said.

Director NIT Srinagar said they will continue to support NCC activities on the campus so that it becomes a more vibrant and popular group on the campus.

Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said that NCC brings together young people from different parts of the country, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, or social status, and provides a platform to work towards the development of the country.

Prof. Bukhari said NCC plays a crucial role in shaping the character, personality, and overall development of young people, and in promoting national integration, social service, physical fitness, and national defense.

“NCC also focuses on physical fitness and sports training, which helps inculcate a healthy lifestyle and a spirit of sportsmanship among its cadets,” he said.

Prof. Bukhari said that there is a need to conduct more NCC campaigns in future and the administration will continue to support such initiatives on campus.

On the occasion, Dr. Nitika Kundan presented a formal vote of thanks to all NCC Cadets for attending the meeting on short notice. She expressed his gratitude to Chief Guest, Director NIT Srinagar Prof. Rakesh Sehgal, Institute’s Registrar Prof. Bukhari, and Prof. MF Wani for their unconditional support in making NCC’s Girls unit a reality on the campus.
