DLSA Ganderbal celebrates International Women’s Day

Ganderbal, Mar 9: To mark the celebration of International Women’s Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in collaboration with ICDS Ganderbal and ELFA International (NGO) celebrated International Women’s Day at Anganwadi Centre Gutlibagh.

The event was held under the chairmanship of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman DLSA Ganderbal and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.

The programme started with the “LADISHA” activity presented by Syed Areej Zaffar who joined the programme virtually.

The programme was attended by Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal; Shahzada Akhter, CDPO Ganderbal; Mehran Khan, CEO ELFA International (NGO); Naureen, BPM NRLM Wakoora; PLVs of District Ganderbal, Aganwadi Workers & Helpers, Member of Self Help Groups, Local Women/Girls and Students of Reyan Public School Babawayil.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary DLSA said that the main objective of organizing this event is to make women in general aware of their rights under law and other entitlements under various enactments being provided to them.

She expressed concern over the growing violence against women in the society and stressed on creating legal knowledge among women folk regarding their rights.

Nusrat Hakak said that everyone must ensure education and all other facilities to girl children for the progressive and developed society and said that every citizen must contribute for the gender equality and empowerment of the women by respecting women rights.

CDPO Ganderbal stressed the need to address the challenges that women face in society. She said that women are not lagging behind in any discipline or aspect of life, all they need is promotion and encouragement to be able to use their talent.

CEO ELFA International (NGO) stressed on educational and other rights available to the girl students and women in general.

Legal Assistant DLSA Ganderbal made participants aware about the role and functioning of DLSAs and rights of women.

Later, some women and girl students were felicitated who have excelled in studies, sports and other categories and a cake was cut by the girl students and women at the end of the event.
