DGP J&K visits PTTI Vijaypur; inaugurates various facilities

Addresses darbar of trainees & staff

Directs to impart training according to the changing scenario

Jammu, Mar 4: Director General of Police, J&K Shri Dilbag Singh today visited Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Vijaypur where he inaugurated various facilities for the trainees and staff besides addressing the darbar of trainees, staff & officers of the Institute. He was accompanied by ADGP Headquarters PHQ Shri M. K. Sinha ADPG Coordination PHQ Shri Danesh Rana, DIG Training PHQ Shri Imtiaz Ismail Parrey and AIG (T&P) PHQ, Shri J. S. Johar. He was received by Principal PTTI Vijaypur SSP Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma and other officers & staff of the Institution.

On his arrival, DGP J&K was presented Guard of Honour by the trainees where after he inaugurated the newly constructed Quarter Guard. He then inaugurated various facilities which included Automobile Workshop & Hydraulic Lift, Conference Hall in Indoor Block, Canteen Block and Modular Kitchen. He also inaugurated sports facilities including Synthetic Badminton Court and Net Practicing Cricket Pitch. He also visited Disaster Management Outdoor Lab and took stock of the training curriculum of said course. SSP Kathua Shri Benam Tosh, SP Rural Traffic Jammu Shri Ranjeet, Vice Principal PTTI Vijaypur Shri Rajinder Singh and Staff were also present on the occasion.

 DGP J&K later launched PTTI Website at Conference Hall and also handed over ISO Certification to Principal PTTI Vijaypur thus becoming the first J&K Police Training Institute to have received this certificate.

While interacting with the officers, DGP directed the Principal PTTI to underline the technical courses which would be conducted in future in view of changing scenario and new challenges. While interacting with the mechanical training faculty, DGP directed for imparting additional skills to the trainees in order to meet the growing demand in Police workshops. He stressed for upgrading and enhancing technical skills of the team deputed at the Institute. He impressed upon the Principal to chalk out the programme for conducting interaction between trainees with the nearby Schools students besides organizing trekking activities. He directed for identifying areas of excellence and subsequently working on them in every J&K Police training centre. While inspecting various technical labs, DGP emphasized for making available modern technical tools to enable trainees get familiar to new technology.

Principal PTTI gave a PowerPoint Presentation regarding the functioning of the Institute. He apprised DGP regarding various objectives, activities and achievements of the institution besides facilitates available in the institution. He also briefed about various activities conducted under the Civic Action Programme.

Addressing the Darbar, DGP said that I am glad to interact with the officers & staff and to know about the various initiatives taken and their importance in improving the training. He appreciated the incumbent Principle SSP Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma and also former Principal SSP Shri Khalid Poswal for taking various initiatives to improve the basic training facilities as well as for upgrading the training capacity. He said that though facilities available are satisfactory there is always room for improvement according to the changing scenario. He emphasized on providing training with latest technology & equipment and organize modules in order to match the present day demands. He also appreciated staff of the institute for their contribution and also extended his gratitude to the visiting faculty for their support in enhancing the capability of the trainees. He assured all possible help and assistance to improve the training facilities in the centre adding that upgrading and improving the training centre is always on priority of Police Headquarters. He said that JK Police has emerged as an elite force in the country and thus requires special training courses at every stage of service with focus on emerging requirements.

While speaking to the media, DGP said that Poonch-Rajouri Sector has been affected with cross border narco-trade for some time now. “Pakistan is pushing drugs to generate funds for terrorism activities, J&K Police along with CAPFs is responding to each and every evil design strongly”, DGP added. He said that yesterday a huge consignment of drugs, arms and cash has been seized in Poonch regarding which some inter-state connections are emerging, the matter is being looked into, further details would be shared in coming times. He said that Pakistan and its agencies are continuously attempting to push terrorists here and also recruit young people in terror ranks besides to create some terror support system. He said that comprehensive strategies and plans are in place to foil all inimical attempts.
