DC Ganderbal chairs DSC meeting

Plan finalised for Ganderbal Entrepreneurship Festival

Ganderbal, Mar 3: To enhance the skill ecosystem in district Ganderbal, a review meeting of the District Skill Committee (DSC) was held today in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat here to discuss the progress on decisions taken in the previous meetings.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir during which a comprehensive Employment Survey was approved besides, the activities were finalised for Ganderbal Entrepreneurship Festival, going to be held in the current month.

At the outset, the DC was apprised of the roles and responsibilities of sub-committees. It was informed that sub-committees of DSC are envisioned to work as per the Skills Book formed under SANKALP, MSDE.

Sub-Committees presented the progress before the DC and suggested corrective actions so that the DSC may work as envisioned in the Skills Book.

The DC directed the heads of the sub-committee to designate an officer from the office who shall be specifically working to complete the responsibilities given to sub-committees. He also stressed upon better service delivery in Skilling to achieve the aim of Rozgar Yukta Ganderbal. Further, it was directed that sub-committees shall hold regular meetings so as to achieve the time-bound targets.

Regarding the dates for Ganderbal Entrepreneurship Festival, March 17 was finalised for holding the Festival and various activities planned to be held were discussed during the Festival which included Skill Challenges, Idea Pitching Challenge.

The Employment Survey by the Planning Sub-Committee of DSC was also approved by DSC and chair directed to hold the Block level Capacity building workshops before starting the survey.

To promote the industry participation and estimate the workforce demand in MSMEs, the DC directed for a workshop with all the members of Industry associations. Further, it was also suggested by the Head of Industry Engagement and Entrepreneurship Sub-Committee that MoUs have to be signed with Industry Associations to share the details of vacancies, to organize successful job fairs and promote apprenticeship activities in the district.

The meeting was attended by the heads of the sub-committee of the District Skill Committee and the Industrial Representatives.
