17-year-old girl jumps into river Jhelum in Srinagar, operation underway


Srinagar, Feb 13 : An operation from the River Police is underway to trace the body of a Kupwara girl from the river Jhelum in Srinagar city.

As reported earlier, a 17-year-old girl jumped from the footbridge connecting Sonwar with Gadhanzpora Raj Bagh area of Srinagar into river Jehlum on Sunday evening.

A River Police official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that since Sunday evening the operation is underway and efforts are on to trace her body.

He identified the girl as Rabiya Afzal, a resident of Trehgam Kupwara.
