District Admin Gbl observes 13th National Voters’ Day

DEO administers NVD pledge to participants

 

Ganderbal, Jan 25: 13th National Voters’ Day (NVD) was today celebrated across district Ganderbal by holding pledge taking ceremonies and other activities at various levels.

In this regard, a main event was organized in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Ganderbal in which District Election Officer (DEO) Ganderbal, Shyambir administered the NVD Pledge to all the participants.

 

Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, President Municipal Council Ganderbal, Advocate Altaf Ahmad Lone; CPO, Irfan Giri,ACP Feroz Yehya, Dy DEO, Councilors and other district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.

 

Speaking on the occasion DEO said that the purpose of celebrating National Voter Day is to create electoral awareness amongst citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process. He said that theme for 13th NVD ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure’ is dedicated to voters which conveys individual’s feeling and aspiration towards participation in the electoral process through power of their vote.

 

Deputy District Election Officer said that since 2011, National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year, all across the country to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950. He also highlighted the various activities carried under SVEEP and said that specific interventions were made to register eligible voters in the district and desired results were achieved during Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls in the district.

 

NVD pledge taking ceremonies were also held at Sub-Division level, Tehsil level and Panchayat level throughout the district.
