Protest against non-availability of ration in Maisuma

Srinagar, Jan 10: Locals in Maisuma area on Tuesday held a protest against the non-availability of ration in the Government Ration Depots.

They alleged that the poor families of the area have not got ration due to which they are facing lot of hardships.

They raised slogans against CAPD department and alleged that they are not getting ration as per the allotted scheme and no one in the CAPD department is paying any heed towards their demands.

Protesters said they were receiving a 10-kilogram ration per soul till December last year; however, the government has reduced the quota by five kilograms from January 2023.

The protesters said that despite repeated pleas to concerned officials nothing has been done so far

“No one is bothered about our sufferings. We demand that ration should be distributed through govt dealers at an earliest for the convenience of local people,” they said.

On being contacted by CNS, Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Abdul Salam Mir, despite repeated attempts did not respond to phone calls.
