Gone are days when NC used Security Forces, official machinery in 1987 to win polls: BJP leader Altaf Thakur

Says Dr Farooq’s  assertions san logic; perhaps party has accepted defeat in advance; NC’s own house in disarray; father willing to contest, son making excuses; BJP believes in politics of transparency

Srinagar, Dec 5:Taking a jibe at National Conference’s re-elected President Dr Farooq Abdullah for warning security forces and government not to interfere in elections, BJP J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur said that gone are the days when NC would use security forces and official machinery to win polls as done in 1987 elections. Thakur said that BJP is playing transparent politics across the country and J&K is no exception as the party believes in transparency.
In a statement issued here, Thakur while reacting to the comments made by Dr Farooq after he was re-elected as the party chief, said that NC has perhaps forgotten 1987 elections when it used security forces and official machinery to win polls. “Today Dr Farooq is perhaps hoping for the same but gone are the days when security forces and administration were used to bag polls. Perhaps, NC has accepted defeat in advance and is making lame excuses now,” Thakur said.
He said that NC has failed to set its house in order as Dr Farooq is willing to contest every election and his son Omar Abdullah says he won’t contest polls till statehood is restored.
Thakur said that BJP is playing transparent politics and is hopeful that people would choose the party of their choice where there is no place for deceit and false promises. He said that people have understood the petty politics played by the parties that ruled J&K for almost seven decades just to enjoy power and nothing else.
