Theft case solved in Awantipora, accused arrested: Police

Srinagar, Nov 19 : Jammu and Kashmir Police in Awantipora claimed to have solved a theft case by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime and recovered a stolen vehicle.

A police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), “On 14-11-2022, Police Station Awantipora received a written complaint from Bashir Ahmad Haroon son of Mohd Jamal Haroon resident of Mahjoor Nagar Srinagar stating therein that during intervening night of 13-14/11/2022, some unknown thief/thieves have stolen his vehicle (Tata Mobile) bearing registration number JK01AH-6293 loaded with 184 boxes of Banana which was parked near Pandow Park Awantipora.”

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 245/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation was initiated.

“During the course of investigation, the investigating team after strenuous efforts were able to recover stolen Tata Mobile. Meanwhile, some suspects were questioned and during questioning of the suspects, officers learnt about the involvement of Ashaq Hussain Shah, son of Mohd Yousif Shah resident of Nusu Badragund Qazigund in the commission of crime.”

When officers spoke to him, he revealed that the Banana Boxes loaded in the said stolen vehicle have been relocated to another Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK18C-9578. Subsequently, the vehicle was also seized by the officers, police said.

Meanwhile, people applauded the efforts made by the Police in cracking and solving the theft case. “Our consistent actions shall assure community members that Police has resolved to act tough against individuals involved in any kind of criminal activities,” police said—(KNO)
