One day workshop on road safety & traffic awareness held at DPS Budgam.

Budgam,Nov 17: Budgam Police today organized a one day workshop on ”Road Safety and Traffic Awareness” at Delhi Public School Budgam.The objective of the workshop was to sensitize awareness about road safety and traffic awareness among students and teachers to minimize the graph of road mishaps in terms of fatal and non-fatal categories. *SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS  was the chief guest on the event.The programme was also attended by  Ms. Shobhna Sirohi  Principal DPS Budgam, Shri Salim Jehangir-JKPS SDPO Charar Shareef, Shri Voonesh Sangotra Sr. PO Budgam and other officers of Budgam Police.
A sizable number of students, teachers and transport staff of DPS Budgam attended the programme.
Chief Guest *SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS* delivered detailed lecture on road safety & traffic awareness. He raised public awareness about traffic rules to reduce casualties due to road accidents. He added that thousands lose their lives and millions get injured in road accidents on yearly basis mainly due to lack of awareness or ignoring traffic rules.Therefore, to make our youth aware of the traffic rules and to persuade them to follow these rules while on road. He also passed important directions among the bus drivers of school to follow traffic rules and norms carefully at all times. Moreover, a detailed presentation on road safety was presented by the chief Guest.
Sr. Po Budgam *Shri Voonesh Sangotra* threw light on legal aspects of road safety & traffic awareness. He also spoke about Supreme Court guidelines for school buses and drivers and penal provisions under Motor Vehicle Act 1988. Besides SDPO Charar Shareef *Shri Salim Jehangir-JKPS* also deliberated upon important aspects of road safety & traffic awareness.
SSP Budgam administered oath/pledge to all participants wherein it was pledged that every participant will obey traffic rules and will persuade others also to do the same.
Towards the end of the workshop, worthy principal DPS Budgam concluded the programme by vote of thanks to Budgam Police for conducting such awareness programmes.
