Srinagar Deputy Mayor moves to court seeking disobedience proceedings against former Deputy Mayor

Srinagar, Nov 10: Over two weeks after a local court temporarily restrained the former Srinagar Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran from publishing any defamatory content in print or electronic media against the incumbent Deputy Mayor Parvaiz Qadri, the applicant (Parvaiz Qadri) has filed an application seeking initiation of disobedience proceedings under section 94 of CPC against Sheikh Imran.

Earlier the court of 2nd Additional District Judge Srinagar had restrained Sheikh Imran from publishing any defamatory content against the applicant Parvaiz Qadri – Deputy Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

The plaintiff Parvaiz Qadri through his Advocate Feroz Ahmed Parray has requested court to initiate disobedience proceedings against the non-applicant for going to media despite the court orders.

Qadri’s lawyers had earlier submitted an application stating that incumbent Srinagar Deputy Mayor Parvaiz Qadri is a respectable elected representative of the people and currently occupying the post of Deputy Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation while the former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran is hell-bent to tarnish his image and is giving defamatory statements in media with an intention to derogate the goodwill and reputation of the plaintiff (Parvaiz Qadri).
