Weekly Block Diwas:DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Dara

Srinagar, Nov 9: As a part of Public Outreach programme to reach out to the people living in the rural areas of the District to address their grievances, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today undertook an extensive tour of Dara area in Harwan Block of the District and presided over a Public Grievance Redressal Camp under weekly Block Diwas initiative.

During the Grievance Redressal Camp, members of DDC and BDC, PRI representatives, Public delegations and scores of individuals projected various issues and demands before the DC including transfer of roads back to R&B, upgradation of local School to Higher Secondary, removal of encroachments, market checking installation of JKBank ATM and fire station, NOC regarding water filtration plant, providing man days under MGNREGA, and other issues.

After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp and assured the people of Dara and other areas of Harwan Block that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be addressed on priority basis.

The DC also gave on the spot directions to the concerned officers for time bound redressal of the public issues.

Addressing the gathering, the DC said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and unground assessment for their time bound redressal. He said such programmes also provide feedback to the Administration to tailor its interventions for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the DC office or other Government Offices.

On the occasion, the people of Dara thanked the District Administration Srinagar for fulfilling their genuine demands and addressing various developmental issues promised during previous Block Diwas  programmes held by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar.

Responding to the public demands, the DC asked the concerned officers to install dust bins in every panchayat and ensure door to door garbage and waste collection for maintaining cleanliness in the area.

Similarly, with regard to land encroachments, the DC directed the Revenue authorities to launch an anti-encroachment drive in the area on a massive scale to retrieve all encroached land from the land grabbers.

The DC also asked the concerned to conduct market checking on a regular basis to avoid any profiteering, black marketing and sale of substandard items in the markets of the area.

General Manager, DIC, Programme Officer, ICDS, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Block Medical Officer, Hazratbal and other District and Sectoral Officers were present in the Public Grievance Redressal Camp.
