Locals Aghast As BG-Mendhar-Balnoi Road Project Lies in Limbo

Mendhar, Nov 7 : The BG-Mendhar-Balnoi road project has been allegedly lying in limbo, putting the whole populace into inconvenience.

A local delegation told GNS that the 45-kilometre long BG-Mendhar-Balnoi road project was sanctioned under the PMGSY scheme by the Government of India for its widening, repairing and black topping. The road, they said, is one of the important roads’ which was used by the defence to reach different locations in Mendhar Sub division besides connecting it with the main town and Balakote Tehsil Panchayats for routine works.

“After the approval of the central government for the project this year for its maintenance, repairing and black topping along with construction of four bridges, the work was however blocked for the development and tendering process by the BRO”, they alleged.

“A letter came into light on social media platforms in which BRO had written to Mendhar PMGSY for the ‘cancellation of this important project’, clearly shows their callous approach”, they said.

The delegation made an appeal on the behalf of the public and transporters to the Lt. Governor of the UT, Chief Secretary J&K, Divisional Commissioner Jammu to intervene in the matter for the development of this road.

They also urged the District Development Commissioner Poonch to settle the issue and sort out the issue with the officials of BRO at an earliest for the general public relief.
