Drug peddler arrested in Budgam; contraband substance recovered

Budgam, Nov 4:  Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs from society, Budgam Police arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

During overnight patrolling at Warpora Soibugh, police party of police post Soibugh intercepted one person in suspicious condition, upon seeing the police party he tried to flee from the spot but the police party overpowered him tactfully. During his personal search, 10 grams  of Heroin like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested and subsequently identified as  Zahid Ahmad Rather S/O Gh Nabi Rather age 23yrs R/O Nasrulahpora  Budgam.

Case FIR number  376/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at police station Budgam and investigation taken up.

Moreover, during investigation it came to surface that the said accused person is a Notorious Drug peddler who used to sell the drugs among the youth of Soibugh and adjoining areas.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
