DC Srinagar holds Block Diwas at Fakir Gujri

Inspects various developmental works in area

Srinagar, Oct 19:To reach out to the people living in the rural areas of the District to address their grievances, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad undertook an extensive tour of remote/hilly area of Fakir Gujri in Harwan Panchayat Block of District and presided over a Public Grievance Redressal Camp under weekly Block Diwas.

During the Grievance Redressal Camp, PRI representatives, Public delegations and scores of individuals projected various issues and demands before the DC including installation of Mobile Tower, upgradation of local PHC & School, augmentation of water supply, timely sanction of PMAY cases, providing additional income generating units for setting up of Sheep, Beekeeping & Handicraft sectors, construction of boundary and retention walls and other issues.

After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp and assured the people of Fakir Gujri and other areas of Harwan Block that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be taken up with concerned authorities on priority.

The DC also gave on the spot directions to the concerned officers for time bound redressal of the public issues.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and unground assessment for their time bound redressal. He said such programmes also provide feedback to the Administration to tailor its interventions for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the DC office or other Government Offices.

Responding to the demands of providing additional income generating units for setting up of Sheep, Beekeeping & Handicraft sectors, the DC gave on spot instructions to the concerned Departments for fulfilling the demands. With regard to PMAY cases, the DC said that the matter of increasing quota has already been taken up with concerned Union Ministry for its fulfilment.

The DC also urged the local unemployed youth to come forward and take benefit from different Government self-employment schemes to earn a dignified livelihood for themselves and their family.

On the occasion, the people of Fakir Gujri thanked the District Administration Srinagar for fulfilling their genuine demands and addressing various developmental issues promised in the last Block Diwas held at Fakir Gujri by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar.

Later, the DC inspected the Health centre at Fakir Gujri and took stock of the measures taken for its upgradation under Cluster Model Village.

The DC asked the concerned to speed up the pace of work for augmentation of health facility at Fakir Gujri so that local people are provided better healthcare facilities at their doorsteps.

The DC also inspected the construction work on development of graveyard at Fakir Gujri being executed at accost of Rs 16.68 lakh.

Besides members of local PRIs, the DC was accompanied by the Chief Planning Officer, all sectoral/zonal officers of the District Administration Srinagar.
