DC Srinagar reviews implementation and progress of works under Jal Jeevan Mission

Several key projects worth Rs 10.18 Cr nearing completion to strengthen Water Supply Network in the District

Rs 51.67 Cr spent on 14 different Water Supply Schemes under languishing projects

Srinagar, Oct 13:In order to review the implementation  of projects taken up under Jal Jeevan Mission(JJM) in the District, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad chaired a meeting of concerned Officers at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex here today.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the progress of works on key infrastructural projects including construction of 10 MGD PST Tank at Kralpora for WSS Doodhganga, 2 MG capacity Service Reservoir at Nishat, 70 thousand Gallons Capacity OHT at Tulsibagh and Improvements/Extension works in Srinagar City being executed at a cost of Rs 10.18 crore to further strengthen the water supply setup in the District.

 The DC also took a firsthand appraisal about the status of schemes under languishing projects taken up at an approved cost of Rs 89.95 crore for Revamping of various Water Treatment Plants of different capacities, Improvement & Extension of pipe network.

 The DC was informed that Rs 51.67 crore have been expended so far on 14 different ongoing works under languishing projects in the District.  He was also informed that most of the key infrastructural projects are near to completion to benefit the consumers.

 During the meeting, the DC also reviewed the status of revenue realization targets fixed during the current financial year. He was informed that over 3.82 lakh households are registered with the Department who have access to safe drinking water in the District and about 90 Million Gallon of  water per day (MGD) is being supplied to the consumers of the District as per required demand.

A threadbare discussion with regard to the status of certification uploading, administrative approval, tendering, evaluation of bids and allotment of civil works was also held and DC asked the concerned to complete the certificate uploading process at the earliest.

 The DC further directed the concerned officials to accelerate the pace of all works to ensure their completion under fixed timelines. He also exhorted the officers to put in coordinated efforts to achieve the target so that people are benefited from the schemes.

 While reviewing the physical and financial status of the works of Water Supply Schemes of Poshpathri and Aparpora being executed at a cost of Rs 2 crore and Rs 3.93 crore under JJM Project in Khonmoh Block of the District, the DC was informed that an expenditure of Rs 86.15 lakh and Rs 89.64 lakh have been made so for.

 The DC asked the concerned officers to speed up the pace of works to ensure their time bound completion.

 Among others, the meeting was attended by Superintendent Engineer PHE Hydraulic, Superintending Engineer, Mechanical, PHE, Executive Engineers and other concerned officers.
