Sports imperative for physical, mental agility: Slathia

Samba, Oct 7 : Former minister and BJP Pradesh Vice President Surjeet Singh Slathia today expressed happiness over large scale participation of youth in sports, saying this is imperative for maintaining physical fitness and keeping mind agile.

“Sky is the limit for youth to excel, be it sports or academics”, Slathia said while addressing the closing ceremony of the Inter-District Speedball Championship, held at Indoor Stadium Samba.

Slathia lauded the Jammu and Kashmir youth for vehemently participating in almost all the games played at national and international levels. It is not just their participation but bringing laurels to their institutions in general and J&K in particular, he added.

The Pradesh Vice President appreciated the potential and skill of those who participated in the event, hoping this will inspire and motivate the youth towards this discipline of the sport. Such pursuits are imperative to channelize the youth energy towards positive direction. The day is not far when the motivated youngsters of Jammu would showcase their talent at the national and international levels given their grit and determination. He also hoped that those drawn towards Speed Ball sport will specialise in different facets of the activity, which will keep them in good stead to face the competitive sports world confidently.

Slathia said sports present a unique opportunity to young boys and girls to excel and bring laurels, not only for themselves, but for the place they belong to as well. He wished the participants all the best and success in their endeavours in future events as well. He also complimented the organisers for holding the event while exuding confidence that this discipline of sport will attract the local youth in a big way.

Included among the large number of people present on the occasion were Pooja Malhotra, Founder Patron, Pushpinder Singh Charak, District Secretary BJP Jammu and Tara Mani ARTO Samba.
