Flight to Shimla to resume from Sep 26: Alliance Air

Shimla, Sep 22 :The Shimla airport will have regional air connectivity after a decade with Alliance Air deciding to launch daily operations to Jubbarhati Airport from September 26.

Earlier the recommencement was scheduled on September 6, but due to bad weather condition the flight could not commence.

A spokesperson of AA said it will be under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 under Uddan Scheme, with the vision of connecting far-flung area of India now scheduled for September 26.

Residents particularly hundreds of cab owners are still not certain about the move though as the government has been giving similar assurance since last five years.

The move also comes just ahead of the Assembly Election scheduled later this year.

The AA also issued similar statements to bring Shimla on the map of air connectivity after almost decades as Air India, Jackson Airlines had closed regular flight to Shimla since 2012.

This AA flight will operate with new brand of aircraft ATR42-600 .

“Our aircraft has super comfortable leg space with a seat pitch of 30. Flight (91821) would depart from Delhi at 0710 hrs and arrive in Shimla at 0820 hrs . Flight (91822) would depart from Shimla at 0850 hrs and arrive in Delhi at 1000 hrs ,” the AA statement said.

The introductory all inclusive Fares for Delhi – Shimla and Shimla – Delhi would be Rs 2,141.

The endeavour will offer better air connectivity between Tier – two / Tier – three towns to their closest city hubs.

Keeping with this endeavour , Alliance Air expands would also enhance connectivity will help bolster tourism and trade in the region and contribute to the economic development of the states.
