Awareness Camp on LSD held at Keller, Shopian by Animal Husbandry Department.

Shopian, Sep 22 :Continuing in its efforts to contain the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease ( LSD) and as a part of the series of awareness camps being organized by Chief Animal Husbandry Office Shopian, an awareness camp was today organized at Block Veterinary Office Keller.
The event was attended by local livestock farmers of the block and adjoining areas including people from tribal areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Altaf Hussian Masoodi highlighted the Standard Operating Procedures in preventing the spread of the viral infection.
The Chief Veterinarian of the District stressed on the need of keeping the animals indoors and maintaining proper hygiene to curb the spread of infection.
He also informed the audience that the department is making arrangements for mass vaccination against the disease.
Technical Officer Shopian, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad delivered a detailed presentation regarding the transmission, control, prevention and current status of the disease in the district.
The participants expressed their gratitude to the department for organising the much-needed awareness programme.
