Elderly man drowns to death in Dal Lake

Srinagar, Sep 17: An elderly man drowned to death in the Dal Lake in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Saturday, officials said here.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the man identified as Ali Mohammad Dar of Abi-Nowpora locality of Khanyar drowned in the lake this morning.

He said that soon after a rescue operation was launched by the concerned authorities and after hectic efforts the body was retrieved from the lake this afternoon.

The official said that body was later handed over to the family for last rites, while police have taken cognizance of the incident
