YSS committed to redress issues of field staff: Director Sports

Kathua, Sep 7: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) is committed to redress all the issues regarding promotion, confirmation and welfare of its field staff, besides promoting sportspersons and developing infrastructure.


This was stated by Director YSS in an introductory meeting with the field staff after distributing prizes among the winners of Under-19 boys and girls Kabaddi tournaments at Degree College ground, here today.
Director YSS was the chief guest on the occasion, while Joint Director Youth Services and Sports (Jammu), was the guest of honour.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kathua, was also accompanying the chief guest on the occasion.
While addressing a big number of field staff employees drawn from the districts of Kathua and Samba, the Director Sports advised them to give their best with regard to patting and promoting sportspersons to make them blossom at the national scene, adding if the field staff members give their best, the Department, in turn, will provide them the most.
The Director Sports said that sports serves for delight, for ornament and for agility and the sportspersons are the messengers of peace and harmony, adding that it is the duty of the technical staff of the Department to hone skill of the budding sportspersons, besides channelising their energies in a positive direction so that they do not derail from the mainstream.
He said sports is the best medium to keep youth away from drugs and other social evils.
Referring to the forthcoming prestigious LG Trophy, Director YSS advised the field staff of the Department to leave no stone unturned in helping the event set an example and become a historic one.
While appreciating the efforts of the field  staff members, he said that the time was ripe to produce International stuff from the Union Territory.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu said that the need was to produce quality sportspersons from Jammu and advised the technical staff to start working in that direction.
DYSSO Kathua in his welcome address highlighted the achievements and initiatives of the Department.
The Director Sports also visited Kathua Campus of the Jammu University to get an idea of the infrastructural facilities available  in the same.
Earlier, in the Under-19 girls Kabaddi final, Zone Hiranagar got the better of Zone Marheen in an exciting contest to lift the trophy, while in Under-19 boys summit clash, Zone Barnoti drubbed Zone Kathua to win the title.
The Director Sports alongwith other dignitaries distributed trophies and mementoes among the winners and runners-up teams.
