Mayor Srinagar  Reviews arrangements for Chehlum

Holds Public Darbar at Zaildar Mohhalla, Saida Kadal

Srinagar, Sep 7 :Mayor Srinagar Junaid Mattoo stresses for a collaborative effort from all departments to ensure smooth successful and peaceful Chehlum Processions.

Passes several directions to all the departments with regard to water supply, street lights, traffic Management,  Health services, fire and emergency services , PDD and other services.

A  meeting of all the senior  officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other departments was held under the Chairmanship of Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattu here at Zaildar Mohhalla Saida Kadal.

  The meeting that focused at preparation  and arrangement of upcoming  Chehlum procession was attended by Commissioner SMC Mr Athar Amir Khan ,Joint Commissioner  Works, SMC,  officials from Fire and Emergency Services, R&B ,   Municipal Veterinary Officer ,Xens from SMC, PDD, CDD, Drainage Circle, Xen MCD Srinagar,Xen ED II KPDCL, Xen PHE Jal Shakti , Xen City Roads, AEES and others.

 Mayor at the outset of meeting enjoined upon officers that  a collaborative effort is required from all the concerned departments to make  the processions of Chehlum  smooth ,successful and peaceful .

Mattu  regarding uninterrupted supply of water   passed directions to the concerned to press enough  water tankers into service near Imambargah’s especially at Mehdi Chowk Saida Kadal , Hassnabad, Zadibal and other places  where large congregational gatherings  will be  being held and also stressed to provide water tankers services to  these  areas on the occasion.

Directions were also passed to the electric wing of SMC to inspect the functionality all street lights and go for restoration of defunct street lights on the procession routes and Imambarah’s where processions and prayers will be held on Chehlum.

Mayor on the occasion held a Public Darbar with the locals of Zaildar Mohalla who put forth their demands and discussed issues related to the water scarcity, dilapidated roads and demands for increase in manpower in sanitation.

He gave a patient hearing to all the issues one by one and assured the people that all their issues will be resolved one by one especially the problem of water scarcity in the area .

The dilapidated condition of link road from Ashai Bagh to  Saida Kadal was also discussed at length and it was decided that a complete repairing and macdamisation of the said link road will be taken up at an earliest.

The locals while expressing their gratitude to Mayor Srinagar and Commissioner SMC for their visit hailed SMC in rendering their services be it sanitation , functionality of street lights, and other related services to the utmost dedication during Mohharam days.

The officials from the Health department were directed to borganize Medical Camps  at Hassnabad,  Mehdi Chowk  Ranger stop and the additional medical first aid  facilities along with availability of Ambulances has to be put in place and these camps shall have enough staff with enough medical Supplies at these locations so that these services can be availed as and when required on chehlum.

Mayor  also directed PDD officials to ensure that no low lying LT wires should be hanging anywhere , the procession routes shall be proactively inspected to ensure complete safety of people participating in processions.

Meanwhile Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan in a meeting also  directed all the  concerned officers to keep a close liaison with the general public, Intizamia committee of the Shia specific  areas  to address their problems on priority , further stressing to upkeep sanitation in these areas  and also to conduct extensive sanitation drives by pressing Hoppers, water sprinklers, foggers and other sanitation related machines and equipments into services for Chehlum.

The Municipal Veterinary Officer on the occasion was directed to keep a strict vigil on stray dogs and keep ready Dog catching squad for management.
