Police arrest 02 persons in Handwara; endangered medicinal herbs recovered

Handwara,Aug 25:Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal trade of endangered medicinal herbs, Police in Handwara have arrested two accused persons and recovered endangered medicinal herbs from their possession.

A police party of Border Police Post Bungus during patrolling at Dhani Bhak Bungus intercepted two persons in a suspicious manner who tried to flee away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. Both the persons identified as Aamir Hussain Sheikh son of Khak Hussain Sheikh, Sadiq Ahmad Khandil son of Mohd Ashraf Khandil both residents of New Gabra Kernah were travelling with horses laden with bags. During search of the bags, around 2kgs of endangered medicinal herbs (Saussurea Costus) was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.58/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qalamabad and investigation has been initiated.

Police has resolved to act tough against individuals involved in any illegal trade and other criminal activities.
