J&K all Set to Celebrate NSD with Huge participation of Youth across UT: Dir Sports

DG SAI Chairs Virtual Meeting on National Sports Preparations

Srinagar, Aug 23: Director Youth Services & Sports along with JD YSS Kashmir, Deputy Director Central and other senior officers and officials of the Department attended a virtual meeting about the preparations being made for the forthcoming National Sports Day (NSD) being celebrated on 29th August here from his office chamber on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Director General Sports Authority Of India (SAI) Sandip Pradhan. While providing a detailed account about the preparations being made by the Department of YS&S J&K for the forthcoming National Sports Day, Director YSS said that the Department has already geared up its preparations for the mega event. “The format given by SAI would be followed in letter and spirit and the Department is targeting to involve about 23 lakh students of more than 28 thousand J&K schools.”, he added.  While talking about the new initiatives being taken by the Department for the mass participation of students and non-students in sports activities he said that involvement of young blood at panchayat and block level is being prioritized to ensure that every single boy and girl gets a chance to play. While presenting a tribute to the legendary Dhyan Chand, The hockey wizard, Director YSS said. “It is truly an honor for the Department to kick start a mega Inter Provincial District Level Hockey tournament on the Hockey synthetic turf at Pulwama on National Sports Day.
