JK Govt is flourishing sports culture and providing right platforms to budding sports talents across UT: Sarmad Hafeez

Srinagar, Aug 20: Secretary, Youth Service and Sports  (YSS) J&K, Sarmad Hafeez on Saturday inaugurated the first training camp in Golf for the current year 2022 at Kashmir Golf Course here.

The first batch of the student golfers have started their 15 days of training and other batches shall follow after the successful completion of the course being currently run.

Expressing happiness on the occasion, Secretary, Youth Service and Sports  (YSS), Sarmad Hafeez said that golf is considered by people to be an elite game but the UT administration is trying to make it available to the common people especially to the children studying in Government schools.

“It is a matter of great pride that one of the oldest golf clubs with rich history,  will be now available for students,” Sarmad Hafeez said, adding that the students from government schools will experience them along with the nuances of the discipline during the coming 15 days of training.

“The administration is working diligently in creating a flourishing sports culture and providing right platforms to budding sports talents and will provide all possible assistance and necessary infrastructure to develop the potential of young sports talents of the UT,” he added.

“Eminent coaches are imparting training to students,” adding that such courses will be organised for other students also and besides girls, boys would also receive this training in coming days” he further added.

Pertinently 50 girl students selected from different Government schools of Srinagar district are being imparted training of the game. The Department of Youth Services and Sports is organising these training courses with the help of J&K Tourism Department.

Director SKICC, Javid Bakshi while speaking on the occasion enunciated that the talent of the sports can’t be limited. “It always comes out in one form or the other and just needs an opportunity. With proper resources and right training, we can produce golf champions in Jammu and Kashmir too,” he said.
