Srinagar, Aug 16 : Apprehensive over the circulation of ‘fake news’, administration in Ramban on Tuesday ordered complete ban on operation of ‘illegal’ news portals in the district.
Citing data obtained from District Information Officer (DIO), Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Alam, as per GNS said that administration has established that many news portals are operating without any registration or permission from the authorities concerned and as such operation of such portals are being banned in the larger interest of peace and security of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner has also asked the SSP Ramban to book those persons responsible for circulation of ‘fake news’ under relevant sections of law. (GNS)
