5-yo kids refuse to play with imported toys anymore: PM in I-Day address

New Delhi, Aug 15 :Addressing the nation on Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reiterated reducing imports and promoting Made-in-India products.

He noted that even small kids are now aware of Made-in-India products and are not eager to play with imported toys.

“I have heard that even 5 to 7-year-old kids are refusing to play with foreign toys. When the five-year old kid takes the pledge to not play with foreign toys then it reflects the spirit of self-reliant India,” Modi said.

He said that foreign firms are coming into India to invest as part of the government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme and also bringing technology.

“They are creating new job opportunities. India is gradually becoming manufacturing hub.

“The foundation of Aatmanirbhar Bharat is being laid. Today, be it electronic goods or mobile phone manufacturing the nation is making fast progress.

“Today, when we supply BrahMos (missile) to the world, there would not be any Indian who would not take pride,” Modi said.
