J&K witnesses unique 40 km rally with BJP foot-soldiers carrying 75 meter Tiranga in Kathua

Kathua, Aug 14 :Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday witnessed a unique and historic spectacle, loaded with patriotic fervor and unprecedented enthusiasm, as thousands of BJP functionaries and workers undertook a 40 kilometer Har Ghar Tiranga rally in the Kathua district, carrying 75 meter long and four meter wide tricolor, marking the 75th anniversary of independence, as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Campaign, amid slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

The event caught the imagination of the entire area and drew a large number of people from the peripheral villages along the highway, welcoming the rally by showering flower petals.

Organised by senior BJP leader Satish Sharma and joined by the senior leaders Devender Singh Rana, former ministers  Pawan Gupta and  Rajiv Jasrotia, besides DDC Councilor Darhal Mohammed Iqbal Malik, Sarpanches and Panches, the Tiranga Rally took off from Ramkote at 6 AM and reached by foot Billawar at 7.30 PM. As the rally progressed, numbers kept swelling with the workers from the adjoining villages registering their presence in the historic event, believed to be the first such mega rally in the turbulent history of Jammu and Kashmir. A touching bonhomie was witnessed on the entire route with the villagers treating the rallyists with cold drinking water and snacks in the humid holy month of Shravana. The occasion relived the era of freedom struggle when Indians, irrespective of caste, creed and religion unitedly fought the shackles of British and attained freedom.

“Overwhelmed to watch the response of the people to the Tiranga Yatra, which has become a focal point not only across the country but globally”, beaming Rana told the media persons, covering the event, terming the participation as endorsement to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of India First.

Rana declared that Modi’s New India is in the making with the agenda of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas. Certainly the will of the people and commitment of the government will manifest in India becoming the Vishwaguru, he added.

Complimenting the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their overwhelming response to the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, former minister  Pawan Gupta said the events held during the year-long campaign has instilled a new spirit of patriotism among the youth, which will inspire the generations to come to contribute towards national reconstruction in whatever way each Indian can.

Former minister Rajiv Jasrotia said that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a befitting tribute to the great freedom fighters, who gave their lives for Indians to see this day. The people are resolute enough not to let their sacrifices go waste by making the nation of their dreams.

Senior leader Satish Sharma expressed his gratitude to the participants, saying the 40 kilometer rally on foot reflects their love for the nation.
