FAA aspirants protest in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 3 :For the past three weeks, dozens of selected Finance Account Assistants (FAA) have been protesting here against the authorities’ decision to put on hold a list issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board.

The aspirants have been demanding the release of the final selection list.

The recruitment process for the FAA has been going on since November 2020. That month, the JKSSB advertised posts for over 950 FAAs and more than 1.50 lakh aspirants applied. The exam was postponed many times and it was finally held in March this year.
The administration shortlisted 972 candidates for the posts. Soon after the list was released, reports emerged of discrepancies and the list was put on hold.
“There are rumours that the selection process will be scrapped. What is our fault if any official has done wrong in the recruitment process? Why are we being targeted by holding the FAA list?” asked an angry aspirant during a protest at the Press Enclave in Srinagar.

Last month, amid unabated protests by aspirants, the government said a panel of officials was holding an inquiry into the selection list of FAA.
The JKSSB has been at the centre of controversies after Jammu and Kashmir administration cancelled the selection of 1,200 police sub-inspectors after an inquiry panel prima facie found irregularities in the recruitment process.
