Inter District Provincial Level Volleyball Tourney Begins At Pulwama

Pulwama, Aug 1: “The participation in any sports activity and exercise in general improves our health, strength, emotional balance, and life years. Exercise releases cortisol, which reduces stress and endorphins, our bodies natural feel-good chemicals. Sports participation is linked to reduced heart disease and diabetes, among other health benefits and hence i feel delighted to witness huge participation of our youth in sports activities these days”, this was stated by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Pulwama Aijaz Ahmad Shah While inaugurating the Inter District provincial level volleyball tournament at Sports Stadia here.

He was accompanied by Joint Director Of Youth Services & Sports Department Bashir Ahmed, Chief Education Officer Pulwama Nazir Ahmad Reshi and DEPO Pulwama Manzoor Ahmad Khan. The tournament is being organized for U/19 age group boys selected from different educational institutions of Kashmir region. District teams from all the ten districts of the region are taking part in the 3 days volleyball tourney. The opening ceremony of the mega volleyball tournament started with a detailed introduction about the sports extravaganza by the District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) of the host District Noor ul Haq. JD YSS Kashmir as host of the event while welcoming all the participants and officials said that volleyball is a great sport for students because it doesn’t take up too much time, you only really need to play for about an hour at a time. He while guiding the student players further said that they can always ask their teacher to let them play volleyball and other games of their choice and interest to maintain a sound physique and sharp mind. He welcomed all the guests in the event and hoped that the game would be played most proficiently keeping the highest standards of sportsmanship and professionalism in mind.

Nazir Ahmad Reshi CEO Pulwama in his speech encouraged the participants for showcasing their sports talent through such tournaments. He appreciated the coordination of YSS & School Education Department in nurturing the sports talent of the Pulwama youth.

A sports oath was taken by the participants that they would play the game as per the rules set for the game and would display the best sportsman spirit during the conduct of the matches. A tournament on the same lines for girls is also being organized at the same venue by the Department of YSS after a few days.

Manzoor Ahmad Najar ZPEO Pulwama and Haroon Rasheed were also present at the scintillating opening ceremony of the tournament.
