India records 16,464 new Covid cases

New Delhi, Aug 1: A total of 16,464 new cases of Covid-19 was reported in India, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

According to a bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 4,40,36,275 while the death toll rose to 5,26,396 as 39 more succumbed to the disease.

On the other hand, 16,112 people recovered from the disease, taking the recovery figures to 4,33,65,890. The recovery rate stands at 98.48 per cent.

The active caseload stands at 1,43,989, the figures showed.

As per the bulletin, 87.54 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

India has administered 204.34 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
